Meet Dr. Forbes

Dr. Jonathan A. Forbes is a fellowship-trained, board-certified neurosurgeon with expertise in open and minimally-invasive approaches for treatment of pathology of the cranial base. He treats additional complex neurosurgical pathology of the brain and spine at the University of Cincinnati Gardner Neuroscience Institute in Ohio.

Dr. Forbes completed a minimally-invasive skull base fellowship at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City under the guidance of Dr. Theodore Schwartz. Dr. Forbes also performs skull base surgery through an open approach.

The Cincinnati Business Journal named Dr. Forbes a HealthCare Hero in 2023 and named him the winner of the “Innovator” category. Dr. Forbes was also nominated for Innovator of the Year by The Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) in 2022 for his work in developing a freeware computer application called CranialRebuild that can use a 3D printer to create a precise implant for repairing a skull wound.

During his time at UC, Dr. Forbes has been involved in the creation of 6 patents and has received 5 research grants from highly competitive entities such as North American Skull Base Society, AO Spine, and UC Pilot.
